After 2 to 3 years of petitioning the Alliance of Guardian Angels Ricardo Garcia received word that a chapter would be granted. Sebastian Metz and Keiji Oda formally initiated the establishment of the Hawaii Chapter. The Hawaii Chapter was formally formed on May 18, 2004 and Ricardo Garcia officially took the lead on forming this chapter. A few newscast and many volunteers voiced their support, but though the supporters were many only a few had the courage to stay with their commitment in establishing this new chapter. Being an angel is not for the faint of heart nor is it for those whose commitment waiver every time an obstacle get in their way. It is not for someone whose motives are selfish because the focus is on supporting the communities to make the environment safer for the future generations.
The group started out on its minimum three and half months of training by practicing at various parks to develop the necessary self defense skills and later started patrolling the streets of Waikiki. As the group grew and the skills improved the Hawaii Chapter patrolled other neighborhoods.
The first graduation occurred on November 21, 2004. Following that the 2nd graduates had their commencement on May 21, 2005.
Patrolling the neighborhoods by invitation from the communities. The angels offers to teach with no cost to the communities on how to watch their neighborhood. Not only does the Angels teach the communities, but they will also patrol with the Community Patrol, thus demonstrating how to do safe patrol.
